Arrests Made in 20-Year-Old Missing Person Case in North-East England
Three individuals taken into custody following new evidence in the disappearance of Robert Scott Clive.
Northumbria Police have arrested three individuals on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance of Robert Scott Clive, who went missing over two decades ago.
Mr. Clive, aged 30 at the time, vanished from North Shields on the night of October 10, 2002. Originally from Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway, he was last seen near Coronation Street shortly after 11 PM. His disappearance led to the initiation of a murder investigation, although his remains have never been found.
On Saturday, police announced that new information prompted the arrests of two men in their 40s and 50s, along with a woman in her 40s.
The three individuals remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
In addition, an address in the Coronation Street area—known to be frequented by Mr. Clive on the night of his disappearance—is currently under police investigation, with the present occupant temporarily relocated as inquiries proceed.
Detective Inspector Mark Atherton, who is overseeing the case, emphasized the dedication of the police to uncovering the truth for Mr. Clive's family.
He mentioned that reviews of extensive CCTV footage and witness testimonies have been conducted over the years since Mr. Clive's disappearance.
The police are appealing to the local community for any additional information that could aid in the investigation, particularly from those who resided on Coronation Street at the time.
