The Isle of Man is experiencing significant travel disruptions due to severe gales affecting air and ferry services.

Strong winds have led to delays and cancellations for various flights.

EasyJet services connecting the island with Liverpool and Gatwick airports have been affected, while Loganair's flight to Manchester was cancelled, resulting in additional issues for subsequent services.

Ferry operations have also been interrupted, with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company announcing cancellations for crossings to Heysham.

The ferry Manxman has had its schedule adjusted and is now set to sail to Liverpool at 13:00 GMT instead of its planned route to Heysham.

Following this, the vessel is scheduled to travel to Heysham to facilitate an overnight return to Douglas from the Lancashire port, expected at 01:45.

The Ronaldsway Met Office issued a yellow weather warning, effective until 15:00 GMT, cautioning the public about gusts reaching up to 60 mph (97 km/h).

This has raised concerns about the safety of the island’s roads, with advice for motorists to be vigilant due to the risk of falling trees and branches.

The A18 Mountain Road is specifically highlighted as being susceptible to hazards, which include thick fog.

Although weather conditions are predicted to improve by Saturday, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has warned passengers of possible further disruptions to ferry services on Sunday.

Additionally, another yellow weather warning has been implemented for severe gales forecasted between 04:00 and 15:00 on that day, with anticipated wind speeds reaching up to 70 mph (113 km/h).
