Three Arrested in Cold Case of Missing North-east England Man
Arrests made over 20 years after Robert Scott Clive disappeared in North Shields, prompting renewed police investigation.
Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of murder related to the case of Robert Scott Clive, who vanished over two decades ago in North Shields, north-east England.
Clive, 30 years old at the time of his disappearance, originally hails from Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, and was reported missing on 10 October 2002.
Initial investigations into Clive's disappearance raised suspicions of foul play, although his remains were never located.
Recent developments have led Northumbria Police to make arrests based on what they describe as 'new information'.
Two men in their 40s and 50s, along with a woman in her 40s, are currently in police custody.
The arrests occurred as part of a significant review of the case.
Authorities are actively searching an address in the Coronation Street area of North Shields, where Clive was known to have been on the night he disappeared.
The current resident of that address, who moved in after 2002, has been provided with alternative accommodation as police conduct their inquiries.
Clive was last seen shortly after 11pm in the Coronation Street vicinity, and a male fitting his description was spotted in the early hours of the following morning near the banks of the River Tyne.
In light of the recent arrests, Detective Inspector Mark Atherton emphasized the police's commitment to uncovering the truth for Clive's family and called for anyone with information regarding the events leading to his disappearance to come forward.
In the span of the investigation, police have conducted extensive reviews, analyzing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and interviewing numerous witnesses to gather any relevant insights into Clive’s last known movements.
