Prince Harry Ordered to Explain Missing Messages in Lawsuit
Prince Harry has been ordered to explain why important messages relevant to his legal case against News Group Newspapers have been deleted. The judge highlighted messages with his ghostwriter were destroyed, leading to a broader search of his communications. This case involves allegations of unlawful information gathering by NGN.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, must explain why potentially relevant messages in his legal case against News Group Newspapers (NGN) have been deleted.
NGN, publisher of the Sun and the defunct News of the World, seeks access to these documents as the prince and over 40 others accuse NGN of unlawful information gathering.
High Court Judge Timothy Fancourt highlighted that messages between Prince Harry and his ghostwriter, JR Moehringer, were destroyed between 2021 and 2023.
The judge ruled for a broader search of Harry's communications from 2005 to early 2023.
NGN has been awarded two-thirds of its costs but the amount is disputed by Prince Harry's legal team.
This lawsuit follows NGN's previous phone hacking settlements exceeding hundreds of millions of pounds.
