Hollywood Crew Union Strikes Deal With Major Studios on Pay Raise, AI Use
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, representing Hollywood crew members, reached a tentative three-year deal with major studios including Disney and Netflix. The agreement includes pay raises over three years and protections against job displacement by artificial intelligence. This follows a recent labor agreement between SAG-AFTRA actors union and studios that also provided pay raises and protected against AI use in filmmaking.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), representing Hollywood crew members such as lighting technicians and costume designers, announced a tentative three-year agreement with major studios including Disney and Netflix.
The deal, to be ratified by IATSE members, outlines pay raises of 7%, 4%, and 3.5% over the three-year period.
It also includes protections against job displacement through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), ensuring no employee is required to provide AI prompts in a manner that could lead to job loss.
This agreement follows a recent labor contract between SAG-AFTRA actors union and studios, which included similar provisions and ended a near six-month production halt.
