A UK woman prison officer, Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, from Fulham, west London, has been charged with misconduct in public office after a social media video allegedly showing her engaging in sex with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth in southwest London went viral.
She is set to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court today.
The Metropolitan Police began an investigation after the video surfaced online, which reportedly shows the officer initially in uniform.
HMP Wandsworth, a Victorian-era prison built in 1851, faces severe overcrowding and poor conditions, currently operating at 163 per cent of its capacity.
In May, Chief Inspector of Prisons Charlie Taylor highlighted the prison's dire state, prompting the resignation of its governor, Katie Price.
The investigation continues with a spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirming the incident and emphasizing zero tolerance for staff corruption.
