Macron Warns of Civil War Risk as French Elections Approach

French President Emmanuel Macron warns of a potential civil war in France as the parliamentary elections approach. He criticizes both the far-right National Rally and the left-wing New Popular Front, accusing them of fostering division based on religion and community. Macron’s remarks have drawn condemnation from leaders of both opposition parties.
PARIS: French President Emmanuel Macron has cautioned about the risk of civil war in France due to the far-right National Rally (RN) party and the left-wing New Popular Front coalition.

Speaking on the podcast 'Generation Do It Yourself,' Macron criticized the RN party’s approach to crime and immigration, stating it relies on 'stigmatisation or division.' He also targeted the extreme left-wing France Unbowed (LFI) party for fostering division based on religious and community lines.

Macron's comments received backlash from RN president Jordan Bardella and France Unbowed leader Jean-Luc Melenchon.
