King and Queen's Continued Support for Middle East Humanitarian Appeal
Latest donation contributes to over £40 million raised for humanitarian efforts in conflict-affected regions.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla have made a second undisclosed donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee's (DEC) Middle East Humanitarian Appeal, which supports those affected by conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank, and Syria.
The appeal has surpassed £40 million in contributions since its launch.
Saleh Saeed, chief executive of the DEC, acknowledged the royal couple’s commitment to humanitarian issues, stating, "Their Majesties the King and Queen’s continued support for the DEC and our appeals highlights their ongoing commitment to addressing the world’s most urgent humanitarian crises."
The DEC has reported that the need for aid in these regions is particularly acute.
The appeal's funds are enabling charities and local partners to provide critical services, including access to clean water, hygiene kits, hot meals, clothing, bedding, and medical care, alongside mental health support for affected families.
In recent weeks, these organizations have tailored their responses in Gaza to assist the hundreds of thousands of individuals returning to their communities, necessitating urgent support.
The King and Queen were among the initial donors when the appeal launched last October.
Their latest contribution follows a humanitarian reception held at Buckingham Palace, which celebrated the contributions of various organizations in the sector.
On the day prior to the reception, the King met privately with chief executives of the 15 DEC charities to discuss the obstacles they encounter while responding to ongoing humanitarian crises globally.
