Jamie Oliver Urges Public to Help Catch Cheddar Thieves
Jamie Oliver has invited cheese lovers to assist in catching the thieves who stole over three hundred thousand pounds of cheddar from Neal's Yard Dairy in London. The perpetrators obtained twenty-two tonnes of award-winning cheese under false pretenses. Despite the scam, Neal's Yard has paid the original producers and is working with the police to investigate the theft.
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has called upon cheese enthusiasts to aid in the apprehension of scammers responsible for a £300,000 cheese fraud from Neal's Yard Dairy in London.
The dairy, known for its British artisan cheese, delivered 22 tonnes of award-winning cheddar to a fraudster posing as a distributor for a large French retailer.
Among the stolen cheeses were Hafod Welsh organic cheddar, Westcombe cheddar, and Pitchfork cheddar, which are highly sought-after and sell for between seven euros and fifteen cents and twelve euros and ninety cents per small piece.
Despite the theft, Neal's Yard has compensated the producers and is collaborating with the Metropolitan Police, who are seeking information on the stolen cheddar in ten kilogram or twenty-four kilogram formats.
Oliver has appealed on Instagram for vigilance about suspiciously cheap, high-quality cheese offers.
