Ellen DeGeneres’ failure to ‘take responsibility’ led to ratings drop

Ellen DeGeneres’ failure to ‘take responsibility’ led to ratings drop

Ellen DeGeneres’ failure to take responsibility following her ‘toxic work environment’ scandal’ led to a loss of trust from her audience, according to a damage control expert.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons last year after former staffers and some current employees made allegations of a ‘toxic’ work environment behind the scenes.

One year on, it has been confirmed the show will now come to an end following the upcoming 19th season, with the 63-year-old insisting that last year’s scandal and the subsequent slip in ratings did not play a part in the decision.

However, Eric Schiffer has claimed viewers felt ‘scammed’ by Ellen’s Be Kind brand, only to learn that staff were allegedly being treated badly on set.

Eric, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, explained to Metro.co.uk: ‘After her outing, Ellen failed to take responsibility for a show with her name on it, mangling her initial attempt at apologizing in a way that crashed and burned into further ratings declines.’

The damage control expert claimed the comedian’s story was yet another tale of how the ‘out of touch celebrity elite’ have been revealed to have a ‘phony persona’, a revelation that he stated ‘ended in a ratings bloodbath’ for The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The Ellen Show is coming to an end after the 2021/2022 season

‘Just like her Be Kind persona, her comments said she still thinks she can con her audience, but they know better as they left long ago’, Eric claimed.

As for the comedian’s future on daytime TV, he mused: ‘Ellen’s days as a talk show host has become buried in a Hollywood cemetery.’

The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiered in 2003 and will end in spring 2022.

Last year Ellen apologized to staff after an internal review by Warner Bros found ‘deficiencies related to the show’s day-to-day management’.

The review was launched following reports of a toxic work environment on the program.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter this week, Ellen said: ‘It almost impacted the show. It was very hurtful to me. I mean, very. But if I was quitting the show because of that, I wouldn’t have come back this season.’
