Twelve Teenagers Arrested Following Knife Attack at East London Primary School Party
A violent incident unfolded at Elm Park Primary School as a gang armed with knives disrupted a birthday celebration.
The Metropolitan Police have arrested twelve teenagers, aged between 12 and 17, following a knife attack that occurred during a birthday party at Elm Park Primary School in Hornchurch, East London, on Saturday evening.
Reports indicate that a group of 50 to 70 youths entered the school, which was rented for the celebration, resulting in a chaotic scene as guests fled in fear.
Eyewitness accounts describe a high level of disorder, with local residents discovering knives discarded in their gardens as the attack unfolded.
Witnesses stated that the disturbances began when one young female attendee posted details of the party location on social media, leading to an influx of teenage boys from areas including Harold Hill and Hackney, approximately 15 miles away.
The involved group traveled among Elm Park, Dagenham, and Barking throughout the night, with the violence occurring between 7 PM and midnight.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that multiple reports of violent disorder were received, noting that some attackers were armed and proceeded to assault and rob attendees.
In connection to the incident, the arrested individuals face various charges, including possession of offensive weapons and assaulting an emergency services worker.
As of now, no formal charges have been filed.
The police have condemned the violence, stating, "The violence seen on Saturday evening has no place in our society, and it will not be tolerated." Authorities emphasized their commitment to working alongside the British Transport Police and local councils in Havering, Redbridge, and Barking & Dagenham to hold those accountable for their actions.
A call has been made for victims or witnesses to come forward, with information being directed to Crimestoppers for confidentiality.
