Charity Chairwoman Accuses Prince Harry of Bullying and Harassment
Sophie Chandauka, chairwoman of Sentebale, levels accusations against Prince Harry following his resignation as the charity's patron.
Sophie Chandauka, chairwoman of Sentebale, a charity co-founded by Prince Harry, has accused him of engaging in 'harassment and bullying on a large scale.'
This allegation arises after Prince Harry, along with Lesotho co-founder Prince Seeiso and the board of trustees, stepped down as patrons of the organization.
Chandauka alleged that Prince Harry approved the release of a harmful news article without notifying her or the other directors, which she claims exemplifies harassment and bullying.
The charity's trustees and patrons reportedly anticipated this publicity maneuver and remain resolute in their resignations.
Prince Harry submitted a resignation letter to the chairwoman and trustees on March 10, alongside Prince Seeiso.
Chandauka has also noted tensions between the charity’s staff based in the UK and those in Lesotho and Botswana, spurred by her attempts to revamp the charity and delegate decision-making to leaders in southern Africa.
Prince Harry co-founded Sentebale in 2006 to support young individuals affected by HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, as a tribute to his mother, Princess Diana.
He and Prince Seeiso announced their resignation from their roles 'until further notice' in a collective statement, citing their 'heavy hearts.'
Chandauka has characterized the situation as involving serious issues of poor governance, ineffective executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, and attempts to conceal wrongdoing.
