Stabbing Incident on South London Night Bus Leaves Two Men Injured and Officer Wounded
Emergency services respond to a violent altercation in Blackheath, resulting in multiple injuries and an ongoing police investigation.
A violent incident on a London night bus in the early hours of Sunday morning has resulted in two men being hospitalized and a police officer injured.
The altercation occurred on a single-decker bus at the intersection of Stratheden Road and Langton Way in Blackheath just after 4:30 AM.
Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, where paramedics treated three individuals, subsequently transporting them to hospitals for further care.
A 24-year-old male suffered a stab wound, although police reports indicate that his condition is assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-altering.
Another individual, a 40-year-old man, was taken to the hospital due to a head injury and has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
He is currently in police custody.
In addition to the two individuals injured, a Metropolitan Police officer sustained injuries from flying glass during the incident and required medical treatment.
A spokesperson for the Met Police stated: "Police and the London Ambulance Service were called shortly after 04:30 hours on Sunday, March 30, to reports of an altercation on a bus in Stratheden Road/Langton Way, Blackheath.
A crime scene has been established while investigations are underway."
The London Ambulance Service confirmed that a multitude of resources, including ambulance crews, incident response officers, and a paramedic in a fast-response vehicle, were mobilized to the scene.
They also dispatched a trauma team via a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
The service treated three people at the scene before admitting them to local hospitals.
As investigations progress, a police cordon remains in effect around the area, emphasizing the ongoing concern for community safety regarding violent incidents on public transport in London.
