Around 500 GP practices have suffered disruption to digital services following the collapse of technology company Silicon Practice, leaving some patients unable to use their surgery’s website, online consultation forms or chatbots.
Affected patients are being advised to contact their surgeries by telephone or in person. The NHS app remains available.
The disruption makes access to healthcare more difficult for some patients and puts additional pressure on GP reception teams as enquiries shift away from online services. Telephone and in-person contact remain alternatives, but require patients to use different routes to reach their surgery.
The reported impact is not necessarily the same at every affected practice: the available information identifies several disrupted services but does not establish that all have failed at each surgery. Nor does it give a timetable for restoring access or explain what arrangements will replace the services provided by Silicon Practice.
