Severe Delays Impact London Commuters Amid Continued Tube Disruptions
Commuters face ongoing disruptions due to customer incidents, signalling faults, and scheduled works affecting multiple lines.
The London transport system is experiencing significant disruptions this evening as multiple Tube and Overground lines continue to face delays, impacting the evening rush hour.
The Northern line is currently experiencing severe delays due to an earlier customer incident, with Transport for London (TfL) advising passengers to allow extra time for their journeys.
In an effort to assist commuters, tickets are being accepted on alternative transport options, including London Buses, London Trams, Southwestern Railway, Southeastern Railway, Great Northern, and Thameslink services.
Earlier in the day, minor delays were reported on both the Central and Victoria lines, with previous disruptions on the District line and London Overground now resolved.
However, delays still persist.
TfL has issued an apology for the extended wait times affecting travelers throughout the day.
Additionally, significant delays are being reported on Central London Red Routes.
The Rotherhithe Tunnel (A101) remains closed due to a broken-down vehicle, prompting motorists to seek alternative routes.
Heavy traffic is noted on the A3212 in both directions between King Charles Street and Bridge Street due to borough works.
This afternoon, a signalling fault at Slade Green has resulted in blocked lines between Dartford and London Bridge, affecting Southeastern services to London Cannon Street and Thameslink trains from Rainham (Kent) to various London destinations.
Passengers are advised to anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes, with cancellations and altered services possible until at least 6 PM.
Access issues have also been reported at Barkingside and Maryland stations.
At Barkingside, the ramp providing level access is out of service due to staff unavailability, while Maryland station is experiencing limited step-free access due to a faulty lift.
Looking ahead, passengers are warned of major disruptions expected this weekend.
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will not operate between Poplar/Stratford International and Beckton/Woolwich Arsenal on Saturday and Sunday, with replacement bus services being implemented.
On the London Overground, the Mildmay line will experience disruption early Friday morning, and no services will run between Camden Road and Stratford on Saturday.
Other lines will also face scheduled closures and replacement bus services throughout the weekend.
In other news, the activist group Just Stop Oil has announced its intention to cease direct action following a final protest planned for Parliament Square on April 26, which may alleviate some commuter obstacles.
Passengers are encouraged to check for real-time updates before they travel, given the ongoing disruptions and operational changes across the network.
