Over three million excess deaths occurred in 47 Western countries between January 2020 and December 2022, according to a study from Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. The study highlights the need for thorough investigations into potential side effects of Covid-19 vaccines, which were introduced in 2021. Despite vaccines and restrictions, persistent excess mortality remains a major concern.
A study by researchers from Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, published in BMJ Public Health, reports that over three million excess deaths occurred in 47 Western countries from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022.
The first year of the pandemic saw 1.03 million excess deaths, rising to 1.25 million in 2021 when
vaccines were introduced and 808,000 deaths in 2022 when restrictions eased.
The study highlights concerns over persistent excess mortality despite
vaccines and containment measures and calls for thorough investigations into potential side effects of
Covid-19
vaccines.
Reported adverse events include serious cardiovascular and gastrointestinal issues, among others.
WHO declared
Covid-19 was no longer a global health emergency in May 2023, though cases and deaths are still being reported globally.
