Record-Breaking Election for the Green Party

The Green Party achieved unprecedented success in the recent elections by winning four seats.

Historically, the party had only secured the East Sussex constituency of Brighton Pavilion.

This year, they retained that seat and won Bristol Central, Waveney Valley, and North Herefordshire.

Party co-leader Carla Denyer made history in Bristol by becoming the city's first Green MP, defeating Labour's Thangam Debbonaire by 10,000 votes.

Adrian Ramsay, her co-leader, overturned a 22,000 Conservative majority in Waveney Valley with a 32.1% swing.

The Green Party is poised to win seven percent of the vote, its best performance yet, compared to less than three percent in 2019.

Carla Denyer emphasized the growing public support for the party's policies, which include raising the minimum wage and increasing taxes for public service investments.

The Green Party first entered the House of Commons in 2010 with Caroline Lucas as the MP for Brighton Pavilion.

Although Sian Berry now holds that seat with a majority of 14,000, it is lower than the previous majority by about 5,000 votes.

Additionally, Ellie Chowns unseated Conservative Bill Wiggin in North Herefordshire, who had a 25,000 majority.
