Más de 390,000 muertos en el mundo por coronavirus

Over 390,000 deaths worldwide from coronavirus

The new coronavirus has caused at least 390,868 deaths worldwide since it appeared in December, according to a balance established by AFP based on official sources, on 5 June Friday at 11:00 GMT.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 6,640,290 people in 196 countries or territories have contracted the disease. Of them at least 2,867,400 were recovered according to the authorities.

This number of positive diagnosed cases only reflects a part of the total number of infections due to the disparate policies of different countries to diagnose cases, some only do it with those people who need hospitalization and in many poor countries the ability to testing is limited.

The death toll in the United States, which recorded its first death linked to the virus in early February, stands at 108,211. The country registered 1,872,660 infections. The authorities consider that 485,002 people were healed.

After the United States, the most affected countries are the United Kingdom with 39,904 deaths and 281,661 cases, Brazil with 34,021 deaths (614,941 cases), Italy with 33,689 deaths (234,013 cases), and France with 29,065 deaths (189,441 cases).

Mainland China (not counting Hong Kong and Macao), where the epidemic broke out in late December, has a total of 83,027 infected people, of whom 4,634 died and 78,327 were completely healed. In the last 24 hours there have been 5 new cases and 0 deaths.

On Friday at 11:00 GMT and since the beginning of the epidemic, Europe added 181,769 deaths (2,230,707 infections), the United States and Canada 115,910 (1,966,386), Latin America and the Caribbean 60,327 (1,195,940), Asia 17,876 (620,353), Middle East 10,100 (447,993), Africa 4,755 (170,286), and Oceania 131 (8,632).

This balance was made using data from the national authorities collected by the AFP offices and with information from the World Health Organization (WHO).
