A recent survey published in BMJ Health and Care Informatics revealed that one in five GPs utilize artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, Bing AI, and Google's Gemini, for daily tasks.
The survey, involving 1,006 GPs, indicated that nearly 29% of those using AI applied it for documentation post-appointments, while 28% used these tools for diagnostic suggestions.
A quarter of the respondents utilized AI to recommend treatment options.
Despite the potential administrative benefits, concerns were raised regarding patient privacy, data protection, and inaccuracies.
Dr. Ellie Mein from the Medical Defence Union highlighted issues of patient confidentiality and the importance of ethical AI use.
