Ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France is boosting security by setting up an anti-drone center at the nearby Villacoublay military base.
This initiative will see the police, military, and gendarmerie joining forces to mitigate drone-related threats.
Given the high security concerns surrounding the Olympics, France is deploying anti-drone technologies, including 15 advanced units equipped with radar, cameras, and jamming devices capable of disabling drones from a distance. Additionally, officers will have anti-drone rifles to disturb drone signals or take them down with lasers.
General Arnaud Bourguignon, overseeing air and anti-drone defense for the event, emphasized the complexity of the challenge, noting that while some drones are beneficial for media coverage and officiating events, others could pose a terrorist threat.
France, having faced severe terror attacks in the past, is taking no chances with potential drone attacks during the Olympics scheduled for July 26 to August 11.
