Microsoft Reports Recovery Progress After Major Outage of Microsoft 365 Services
The tech giant announces that most affected services, including Outlook, are recovering following disruptions experienced by users.
On March 1, 2025, Microsoft reported that a significant number of its Microsoft 365 services, particularly Outlook, were in the process of recovering after a widespread outage affected users.
The outages began to be reported around 8:40 PM, with Downdetector indicating that more than 9,000 users experienced issues by 9:15 PM. The disruptions were notably concentrated in urban areas such as London and Manchester.
In a communication shared via its official account on X, Microsoft stated, 'Our telemetry indicates that a majority of impacted services are recovering following our change.
We’ll keep monitoring until impact has been resolved for all services.' The company noted that it had identified a potential cause of the service disruption around 10 PM.
This incident follows a previous outage in November, which affected Microsoft’s email services and the Teams collaboration application.
The frequency of such outages raises questions about service reliability for critical business tools that many organizations rely on globally.
