Greater Manchester Police (GMP) chief constable Stephen Watson has defended the force's decision to investigate claims against Labour party deputy leader Angela Rayner.
The investigation, prompted by a complaint from Conservative deputy chair James Daly, focuses on allegations concerning Rayner’s primary residence in Stockport from 2010 and potential tax avoidance.
Watson emphasized the investigation’s fairness and impartiality, stating it would follow standard procedures and might not necessarily lead to charges.
Watson, marking his third anniversary as GMP's chief, also highlighted significant improvements within the force under his leadership.
