Kyle Clifford Pleads Guilty to Triple Murder in Bushey, Hertfordshire
Man admits to killing Carol Hunt and daughters in 2022; denies rape charge
Kyle Clifford, a 26-year-old man from Enfield, has admitted to the murder of Carol Hunt and her daughters, Hannah and Louise, at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9, 2022. During a hearing conducted via video link at Cambridge Crown Court, Clifford pleaded guilty to three counts of murder.
He also admitted to charges of false imprisonment and possession of two offensive weapons, specifically a crossbow and a butcher’s knife.
Clifford, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping Louise, a charge that was introduced last month.
The court has provisionally set March 3 as the trial date for this charge.
Police investigations revealed that Louise Hunt was found tied to a chair when officers arrived at the scene.
An inquest held earlier had reported that Louise and Hannah were shot using a crossbow, while Carol was stabbed with a knife, suffering multiple injuries.
Following the incident, a manhunt for Clifford ensued.
He was later discovered injured at Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield, north London, the day after the murders took place.
The victims, Carol Hunt, 61, and her daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were close relatives of BBC racing commentator John Hunt.
Hunt, who was Carol's husband and the father of the daughters, expressed profound grief through a statement last year, which he co-signed with his eldest daughter, Amy: 'The devastation we are experiencing cannot be put into words.'
Clifford's association with the military was noted in the proceedings; he had served for a span of approximately three years starting in 2019.
