Good Growth Fund and devolution plans reshape regional funding
Local authorities across England and the devolved administrations are preparing for the Good Growth Fund and revised regional funding arrangements announced in the Autumn Budget, intended to decentralise economic powers and raise productivity across all areas.
A Treasury official ceremoniously hands an enormous watering can to a regional council gardener. Both stand beside a promising green sapling whose small terracotta pot, labelled “GOOD GROWTH FUND”, is tightly enclosed by a heavy metal clamp marked “BUDGET”. The gardener looks past the impressive can towards the cramped pot.
