Passengers were evacuated from London Bridge Underground station at around 5.30pm on Saturday after a fire alert prompted its temporary closure. Emergency services responded, and travellers had to find alternative ways to complete their journeys.
Photographs show dozens of people gathered outside the station following the evacuation. Transport for London announced the closure through its accessibility account and said tickets would be accepted on London Buses while the station was shut.
London Bridge serves the Northern and Jubilee lines and handles more than 55 million passengers annually, making it one of the busiest stations on the Underground network.
The station has since reopened and all services have resumed, with no ongoing disruption related to the incident. The cause of the fire alert and the length of the closure have not been specified.
