Coldplay is set to release their new album, 'Moon Music,' on 4 October with vinyl records made from recycled plastic bottles.
Each 140g vinyl will utilize nine plastic bottles, significantly reducing carbon emissions by 85% compared to standard production, and preventing the creation of 25 tonnes of new plastic.
For a special edition, 70% of the plastic is sourced by The Ocean Cleanup from Rio Las Vacas, Guatemala.
This initiative is part of Coldplay's broader effort to minimize their environmental footprint, aligning with their ongoing Music of the Spheres world tour, which has already achieved a 59% carbon reduction from their previous tour.
'Moon Music' will be Coldplay's 10th album and continues their collaboration with producer Max Martin.
The album's first single, 'feelslikeimfallinginlove,' will be released on 21 June and feature in their Glastonbury festival performance.
This effort follows similar eco-friendly moves by artists like Billie Eilish.
