Four agreements with OpenAI spanning government, energy and investment have been signed in the presence of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who also met Sam Altman.

The agreements put the focus on applications of artificial intelligence beyond chatbots, bringing public administration, the energy sector and investment into the same programme of co-operation. Their breadth is significant, but the signing of agreements is distinct from putting systems into operation: it does not, by itself, establish the scale of deployment or the results those systems will deliver.
