Wales' 20mph Speed Limit Revision: Councils to Decide on 30mph Roads from September
The Welsh government will begin the process of changing some roads back from a 20mph default speed limit to 30mph in September.
People are encouraged to contact their local councils to suggest where the change should be made.
The number of roads affected is unknown, as it will be up to councils to decide.
The Conservatives maintain that the 20mph limit will remain, while Plaid Cymru supports the idea of widespread 20mph zones but acknowledges implementation issues.
The Welsh government will cover the cost of changing the speed limits.
Transport Secretary, Mr. Skates, announced that some road projects in north Wales will proceed, and he is revising the 20mph default speed limit in built-up areas following public backlash.
The 20mph policy is not being abandoned, but Mr. Skates is "refining" it by considering community preferences and implementing appropriate speed limits on specific roads.
The Welsh government will listen to public opinions on speed limits between now and July.
Revised guidance will be prepared in July-September for councils to assess their ability to change speed limits on specific routes.
The process of reintroducing 30mph speed limits on requested routes will occur in September.
