Victims' attorney calls for Prince Andrew to testify under oath regarding Jeffrey Epstein scandal
A lawyer representing survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse has called for Prince Andrew to provide a sworn testimony about his involvement in the scandal.
The attorney, Spencer Kuvin, insists that the Duke of York must be held accountable within the full scope of the law, highlighting the seriousness of lying under oath.
The demand for Prince Andrew's testimony follows the unveiling of new evidence in U.S. court documents, which repeatedly mention him in connection with Epstein.
These documents stem from a defamation suit filed by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell of trafficking and claimed she was forced to have sexual encounters with Andrew.
Released court files include testimonies suggesting Prince Andrew frequented Epstein's Palm Beach home and received daily massages there. Johanna Sjoberg’s testimony also brings to light an accusation that Andrew groped her at Epstein's residence in 2001.
Prince Andrew, who settled a lawsuit with Giuffre and withdrew from royal duties in 2019, denies any wrongdoing. Yet, the latest document release brings renewed scrutiny to his relationship with Epstein.
Kuvin argues it is time for the prince to come forward and testify under oath to clarify the truth. He suggests that, given the allegations, Andrew should otherwise retreat from public life.
Meanwhile, UK's Metropolitan Police have been pressured to investigate new claims against the royal, though they have not begun a probe. Buckingham Palace has not issued a statement on the matter.
