Two Just Stop Oil Activists Arrested Outside New Scotland Yard
Two Just Stop Oil (JSO) protesters were arrested outside the Metropolitan Police headquarters at New Scotland Yard in central London.
The activists, part of a group demonstrating that afternoon, were detained and placed into police vans. Officers observed the event as the protesters delivered speeches, announcing intentions to extend their demonstration to other London locations they consider "centres of oppression," including the Supreme Court.
The rally transitioned to Parliament Square, despite an activist's declaration through a loudspeaker that police efforts would not halt their protests. The march was part of JSO's series of demonstrations, meant to show unity with what they call "innocent climate prisoners."
These arrests follow the Metropolitan Police’s statement that since October 30, they've made 649 JSO protest-related arrests, resulting in 338 charges.
The police clarified that the recent arrests were not for protesting on the pavement as JSO alleged, with one arrestee accused of violating bail terms and the other wanted for making antisemitic remarks. Both individuals were taken into custody.
