Tributes Paid to Tottenham Shooting Victim Mahad Abdi Mohamed

The family of the 27-year-old shot in Tottenham expresses profound grief as investigations continue.
The family of Mahad Abdi Mohamed, a young man fatally shot in Tottenham, has publicly expressed their grief, citing a "profound loss" following his death.

Police were alerted to an incident on Waverley Road, located near the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, at approximately 8:45 PM on Thursday.

Reports indicated that two men had been shot at the scene.

Upon arrival, officers collaborated with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and discovered that Mr. Mohamed, 27, had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.

Additionally, a 26-year-old male victim was found with a gunshot wound to his leg and is currently hospitalized in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

In a statement released through the Metropolitan Police, Mr. Mohamed's family expressed their devastation, stating, "Our family is grieving the profound loss of a son, a brother, a father and a friend.

We kindly ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

We are grateful for your understanding and support."

Specialist officers are providing ongoing support to the family.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and a crime scene has been established as police continue their investigations.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford from the Met’s Specialist Crime North team commented on the shooting, saying, "Two men were shot on a residential street on Thursday, with one man sadly losing his life.

My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this time."

Woodsford acknowledged the potential impact of this event on the local community and emphasized that her team is diligently working to gather evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

She urged local residents with concerns to engage with officers on the scene or liaise with their neighborhood policing teams.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity after 8 PM on Thursday, March 20, to come forward with any information, suggesting that their testimony could be critical to the ongoing investigation.
