The Biggest Hair Trends for Spring 2022

The Biggest Hair Trends for Spring 2022

The middle part is here to stay.

The first place we turn to for hair inspiration is almost always the runways, where some of the world's most talented hairstylists create looks we inevitably end up wearing the following season.

In the case of the spring 2022 shows, the trends were a push-pull between ultra-sleek and ultra-casual—choose your fighter. Oh, and if you've been battling the middle part comeback, it may be time to give in, as it reigned supreme at more than a few shows. Keep reading for all the other trends that are poised to take over spring 2022.

1. All Kinds of Clips

The hand-painted hair clips placed throughout models’ undone hair at Alice + Olivia were the brainchild of celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan.

2. All Kinds of Clips

At Tom Ford, clips were embellished with crystals to match the glitz of the collection.

3. Chic Chignons

At Jonathan Simkhai: The sleekest of low buns, which will be beautiful for a spring wedding.

4. Chic Chignons

Fendi showed a more daytime version of the hairstyle, which anchored the casual, throwback vibe of the collection.

5. Slick Straight

The flat iron is officially back. Models walked the Sergio Hudson runway with the 2022 take on glossy, pin-straight hair.

6. Slick Straight

The Versace look is almost always about long, straight, and sexy—but this time, models’ hair was swept back on top for full early 2000s nostalgia.

7. Middle Parts

Alert Gen Z: The middle part has officially taken to the runway, where models at Proenza Schouler wore the look with super low-maintenance hairstyles.

8. Middle Parts

The look also made an appearance across the pond at the Alberta Ferretti show (yes, that’s Gigi Hadid with deep auburn hair).

9. Headscarves

Headscarves have been making runway appearances for a few seasons now (see: Dior’s fall/winter 2020 show), and if the buzzy Versace x Fendi collab has anything to do with it, the trend isn’t going anywhere.

10. Headscarves

Meanwhile at Anna Sui, models' heads were accessorized with everything from scarves to crochet wraps to colorful straw hats.

11. Easy Braids

Low-key braided pigtails were an unexpected but surprisingly stylish look at Studio 189.

12. Easy Braids

For Altuzarra, models wore face-framing braids, a look that's made the rounds on famous faces like Addison Rae and Hailey Bieber as of late.
