Skupski and Harrison Clinch Australian Open Men’s Doubles Title in Melbourne
Britain’s Neal Skupski and American Christian Harrison win the 2026 Australian Open men’s doubles title in just their second tournament together
In a striking display of synergy and determination, Britain’s Neal Skupski and his new partner Christian Harrison of the United States captured the men’s doubles championship at the 2026 Australian Open in Melbourne.
The sixth-seeded pair, competing together for only the second time on tour, defeated Australian wild cards Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, on Rod Laver Arena on Saturday.
Skupski, who had previously secured a Grand Slam doubles title at Wimbledon in 2023, added a second major men’s doubles crown to his résumé and reclaimed the world No. 1 doubles ranking with the victory, while Harrison celebrated his first Grand Slam title.
The newly formed duo navigated a field that included established teams and home-crowd favourites, demonstrating resilience and tactical coherence under pressure.
In the final, they prevailed in a tightly contested opening set that was decided in a tiebreak before securing the second set with consistent serving and sharp net play.
The Australian duo of Kubler and Polmans thrilled local supporters with their breakthrough run to the final, but were ultimately edged out by the sharper execution of Skupski and Harrison.
Skupski described the triumph as an “amazing start” to the season and highlighted the fresh momentum brought by his partnership with Harrison, which crystallised following mutual connections after his previous partner took a break from competition.
Their success in Melbourne marks a notable moment in this year’s tennis calendar and adds a compelling chapter to British doubles tennis at Grand Slam level.
