Sanjeev Gupta Faces Prosecution Over Missing Company Filings
Steel tycoon Sanjeev Gupta is being prosecuted for not filing accounts for over 70 companies. This legal action follows serious fraud investigations linked to the collapse of Greensill Capital in 2021, which heavily financed Gupta's business ventures. The Gupta Family Group Alliance assures no operational impact and plans to resolve the filing issues before a January 2025 hearing.
Sanjeev Gupta, a prominent steel industry leader, is facing legal actions from Companies House for failing to submit accounts for over 70 of his UK-based companies.
These include firms within his Gupta Family Group Alliance (GFG), like Liberty Commodities and Liberty Steel.
The enforcement comes as GFG continues to face a Serious Fraud Office investigation for alleged financial misconduct linked to the 2021 collapse of Greensill Capital, which had heavily financed Gupta’s enterprises.
Many of Gupta’s team, including directors Iain Hunter, Deepak Sogani, Jeffrey Kabel, and Jeffrey Stein, have been implicated and have pleaded not guilty.
Despite serious charges, GFG maintains the situation does not impact operations and is addressing the accounting issues raised by Companies House, with a hearing scheduled for January 2025.
