Train services to be disrupted as RMT and Aslef call for strikes
There will be more rail strikes affecting services over the next few days due to long-running disputes over pay, jobs, and conditions.
These strikes will cause disruption to passengers, and the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) has called for a strike on 2 June.
The drivers' union, Aslef, will also hold strikes on 3 June and 1 June, with overtime bans expected to cause additional disruption.
The strikes will affect 15 train companies and services will start later and finish earlier than usual.
The RMT strike will affect around half of the network, while Aslef's strikes will cause regional variations, with some operators running no services at all.
The strikes will also affect football fans traveling to the FA Cup final on 3 June.
Passengers are advised to plan ahead and check the times of first and last trains.
Aslef, a train driver's union, claims that their members have not had a pay rise in the last four years.
Both Aslef and another train driver's union, RMT, claim that the government is preventing the train companies from making a fair and reasonable pay offer.
The Department for Transport denies these claims and states that they have facilitated a fair and reasonable pay offer.
The spokesperson for the Department for Transport urged the union leaders to put this offer to their members for a vote.
