Meghan Markle 'set to reveal all on "rift" with Kate Middleton'

Meghan Markle 'set to reveal all on "rift" with Kate Middleton'

Royal aides are bracing for Meghan Markle to lift the lid on her apparent rift with Kate Middleton in her tell-all interview tonight with Prince Harry.

The pair have always remained tight-lipped about their relationship, but there have long been reports of tension between the wives amid their husbands’ fallout.

Royals are said to believe this could be Meghan’s opportunity to ‘go nuclear’ and finally expose the root of the tension between the in-laws in the two-hour CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey airing tonight in the US.

Teaser clips of the programme, which will air in the UK on Monday night at 9pm, show Meghan telling friend Oprah she is unafraid to speak her truth as there is ‘a lot that’s been lost already’.

A source told The Sun: ‘If she has chosen to speak candidly about her time with Kate then the damage that could be done to the monarchy is vast.

‘She has the power to lay bare just how bad things really were between her, Harry, William and Kate.’

In extracts of the interview released over the last week, Meghan is quizzed over being ‘silenced’ while working for the Royals, adding it was ‘liberating’ to be able to ‘say yes’ to a request for an interview with the US chat show host.

In one clip, Meghan says if ‘The Firm’ was behind ‘perpetuating falsehoods’ about her and Harry, the Royals cannot expect the couple to remain silent.

Despite what may come of the ‘no-holds barred’ interview, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are ‘hopeful’ they can resolve issues with Harry and Meghan because ‘they’re a family and families come through these things’.

A friend of the Kate and William told The Telegraph: ‘They both remain hopeful of a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan.

‘It has been very difficult for both sides and there has been a lot of sadness over what has happened, but ultimately they want things to improve between them in the fullness of time.’

Royal aides are worried Meghan will ‘go nuclear’ on their supposed rift

It comes as further reports in The Mirror last night suggested the Duchess of Cambridge could assist Buckingham Palace with its investigation into bullying claims during Meghan’s time as a working royal.

Two members of staff claimed they were bullied at a time when the Sussexes were sharing Kensington Palace’s staff with William and Kate.

Past and present palace employees are set to be invited to speak in confidence about their experience working for the Duchess of Sussex, following allegations made by a former communications secretary in 2018.

Former aides are expected to claim Kate stood up for staff amid Meghan’s alleged difficult behaviour, while even Camilla could be called upon by the Palace to assist in the internal probe.

The Sussexes accused the Royals of a ‘calculated smear campaign’ based on ‘misleading and harmful misinformation’ after the bullying claims first emerged days ahead of the much-anticipated interview with Oprah.

Colleagues who worked with Meghan before she joined the royal family described her as ‘kind’ and ‘loved by everyone’, as one friend suggested the allegations are fuelled by racism.

The Queen will apparently not be tuning into the interview as she is focused on ‘Philip duty’.

The Sunday Times reported the monarch will not watch the programme and is instead focusing on national issues, while the paper said royal courtiers have branded the interview a ‘circus’.
