Kate celebrates pandemic heroes in Westminster Abbey carol service

Kate paid tribute to the people who have been an “inspiration” in serving their communities during the Covid pandemic at a Westminister Abbey carol service.

In a heartwarming introduction, the Duchess of Cambridge said she and her husband Prince William wanted to recognise the people whose struggles have been “less visible” during the pandemic.

She said: “We wanted to say a huge thank you to all those amazing people out there who have supported their communities.

“We also wanted to recognise those whose struggles perhaps have been less visible too.”

Kate worked her magic as she decorated a wonderful Christmas tree at Westminster Abbey in London.

The Duchess of Cambridge was feeling festive as she tied little red ribbons all over the tree ahead of a carol concert.

Smiling Kate added the glamorous finishing touches to the tree which was already dressed in lights.

She wore a festive red jumper and black jeans for the special occasion.

Kate hosted a Christmas carol concert Royal Carols - Together At Christmas at Westminster Abbey which will be broadcast on Christmas Eve on ITV.

The service took place on December 8.

During the carol service, Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway read out a beautiful poem about love.

Singers Tom Walker, Ellie Goulding and Leona Lewis also performed during the star-studded service.

A glittering crowd watched on; England footballer Jordan Henderson, comic Jason Manford, Zara and Mike Tindall, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie and the Countess of Wessex all attended.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton, her sister Pippa Matthews and brother James Middleton and his wife Alizee also showed their support for the occasion.

Kate organised the event to pay tribute to all the inspirational people who have supported communities through the Covid pandemic.

The carol service switched to being broadcast on ITV from the BBC in the fall out over a BBC Two documentary about the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.
