Ex-CIA Officer Sentenced to 10 Years for Espionage
A former CIA officer, Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for spying for China. Ma, aged 71, conspired to deliver national defense information to Chinese intelligence for fifty thousand dollars. He worked with a now-deceased relative and gave classified information starting from 2001.
A former CIA officer, Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, was sentenced on Wednesday to 10 years in prison for espionage activities for China.
Ma, aged 71, entered a plea agreement in May, admitting to conspiring to gather and deliver national defense information to Chinese intelligence officers in exchange for fifty thousand dollars.
He was employed by the CIA from 1982 to 1989 and collaborated with a now-deceased relative, also a former CIA employee.
They began handing over classified information to Chinese officials in March 2001.
