Cyclist Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident on Park Lane

A 21-year-old Lime bike rider is in critical condition following a collision with a car that fled the scene in Mayfair.
A 21-year-old cyclist riding a Lime bike has been critically injured in a hit-and-run collision on Park Lane, London.

The incident occurred around 9:15 PM on Sunday, March 23, near the junction with Upper Brook Street in Mayfair.

The Metropolitan Police reported that the cyclist sustained life-changing or life-threatening injuries and was transported to a major trauma center in a critical but stable condition.

Emergency responders, including a specialist trauma doctor from London’s Air Ambulance, attended the scene.

The police stated that the driver of the vehicle involved did not stop after the collision, prompting an ongoing investigation to locate the individual.

A crime scene has been established, and authorities have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward by contacting them.

Traffic on the southbound carriageway of Park Lane remained restricted as police continued their investigations.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they received the call regarding the collision at 9:28 PM on the same evening, stressing the urgency of their search for the fleeing driver.

The London Ambulance Service reported that multiple resources were deployed to the scene of the collision, including ambulance crews and an incident response officer.

They provided immediate medical assistance to the cyclist before he was taken to hospital.

In the context of cycling safety in London, 630,000 trips are made each month involving dockless e-bikes such as those operated by Lime and similar services.

The year has seen a concerning trend, with 10 cyclists reported killed in London in 2024, and one confirmed fatality involving a man in his twenties earlier this year who was struck by a heavy goods vehicle in Stratford.

This incident prompted widespread protests from cycling advocacy groups, urging Transport for London and local councils to implement enhanced road safety measures.
