Crittall style steps into the shower

Crittall style steps into the shower

Screen time that we'd encourage

For some time, the black-edged, industrial lines of Crittall-style windows have been influencing designs of rear extensions, internal partitions and screens. It's now a huge trend in bathrooms with the defined-outline aesthetic making it into our bathrooms too with a huge range of brands offering Crittal-style shower screens.

DARK ARTS

When designing a wet room, Rebecca Milnes, designer, C.P. Hart, says 'Originally wet rooms were completely open with a glass partition, however a simple fixed glass panel creating a walk-in shower area is a much more practical choice and has become the most popular trend.'

WATER TIGHT

The steel and glass shower enclosure in this Milano Barq recess wet room, comes complete with a hinged return panel and fast-flow stainless steel drain. It's available in a range of different sizes to suit too, from £269, Big Bathroom Shop.

OFF GRID

A single panel with simple grid lines is an elegant shower screen solution in this beautiful marble wet room. Find this and more options at Aqata.co.uk.

URBAN GLAMOUR

A modern bathroomlends itself wonderfully to this industrial aesthetic, especially in monochrome schemes. The clean, simple lines and understated design of a Crittall-style shower screen add bags of style to this compact room, and add a touch of industrial chic.

And as well as looking rather good, the sturdy, slim-profile frames tap into the current trend for all things utilitarian.

A striking way to frame a walk-in wet room or shower area, these steel-framed partitions feel both light and inclusive but retain an element of separation.

Further enhance the urban aesthetic with the addition of a sleek stainless steel shower – or the utilitarian style Boffi pipe shower. Glam it up with gorgeous brass taps and some funky bathroom wall lights.

COOL ENCLOSURE

This new addition to the Merlyn Black collection is made from anodised matt black steel, which is more durable than powder coating. It's available as a single shower wall or as a walk-in enclosure, depending on the size of your space.

PRETTY CHIC

Take a Crittall-style frame with frosty Stoppolyte glass, add a few elegant Art Deco-esque shapes and the Victoria shower door by Drench is born – just one of the many new designs at CPHart's expansive Waterloo showroom. The door comes in a range of sizes and even has a towel bar that adds a modern-day convenience to its old-school aesthetic.

WAREHOUSE UTILITY

Designed to define, the grid panel shower enclosures are made to stand out as a bold centrepiece, with thick metal framework.Every enclosure is made from anodized aluminum, preventing rusting.

The glass is also treated to last, with a proprietary sealant that prevents hard water spots and reduces time spent cleaning glass.

PRINTED PANEL

The Matki-One Wet Room Panel has a sleek, simple black frame effect that's actually printed digitally onto the glass. It can be fixed either to the wall, to create a shower screen, or fixed to the ceiling to create a free-standing screen.

SOFT INDUSTRIAL

Seemingly light and delicate, the Metalcraft range by West One Bathroomshas a fixed frame design with beautiful proportions and minimalist aluminium frame.

This industrially inspired collection has a functional and timeless design, and with its subtle and minimal framework the Metalcraft collection would suit more decorative bathrooms too.

FROSTED PANEL

The Harbour Status Matt Black Frame by Drench is a single Crittall-style shower panel that can come either in clear glass or frosted for a degree of privacy – perfect for ensuites. The glass itself has an easy clean coating which, as the name suggests, makes cleaning super easy whilst being resistant to stains and limescale build up.
