Two new COVID-19 cases reported in Bermuda, 23 October

Yesterday, there were 996 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and 2 were positive for COVID-19.
The most recent cases are classified as imported having arrived on BA2233 from London on October 17th 2020. Case isolation and contact tracing has begun. The cases are symptomatic residents who received a positive test result on their Day 4 test, having had a negative pre-departure test.

Bermuda now has 190 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

there are 6 active cases, who are
all under public health monitoring, and
none are hospitalized or in critical care;
a total of 175 have recovered, and
the total deceased remains 9.

The average age of all of our confirmed positive cases is 56 and the age range of all of our positive cases is from 9 to 101 years.

The average age of all deceased cases is 74 and the age range is 57 to 91 years.

The source of all local cases is as follows:

79 are Imported
90 are Local transmission, with known contact
21 are Local transmission with an unknown contact, and
none are under investigation

Bermuda’s country status is “Sporadic Cases”. The seven-day average of our real time reproduction number is less than 1.

The Ministry of Health would like to remind the public that returning residents without a valid negative, pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test result must quarantine until they receive results from their Day 8 COVID-19 PCR test; they would test on arrival, Day 8 and Day 14. Returning residents with a valid negative pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test result must test on arrival, Day 4, Day 8 and Day 14.
