Two more pro-democracy figures of the 47 released after bail reviews
The High Court has granted bail to two more pro-democracy activists charged over national security law on Saturday, bringing the number of released detainees to 11.
District councilors Sze Tak-loy and Lee Yue-shun were allowed to be given temporary freedom after the Court of First Instance Judge Esther Toh Lye-ping rejected the prosecution’s appeal against a lower court’s decision to grant them bail.
The two were among the 47 pan-democrats accused of subversion for their roles in the camp’s unofficial primary election last year.
Sze and Lee were both released on bail conditions including a HK$100,000 cash and HK$100,000 in surety.
Along with other suspects who were granted leave, they must surrender all their travel documents, including British National (Overseas) passports. They were also barred from making contact with foreign government officials and legislators or engaging in any level of governmental and non-governmental elections.
Other bail terms included a seven-hour daily curfew from midnight to 7am.
