William and Kate Are Moving House – and the New Neighbors Were Evicted

Prince William and his family will relocate from Adelaide Cottage to the larger Forest Lodge estate near Windsor, prompting two neighboring families to vacate their homes at the request of the palace.
Prince William and his family will soon move to Forest Lodge estate, leading neighboring families to leave their homes.

“The palace did not want ordinary people continuing to live in the area,” said a source.

Usually, when reports emerge of inconsiderate royals, the criticism is directed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

This time, however, it is Prince William and Kate Middleton facing backlash.

Over the weekend it was revealed that William and his family plan to move house—from Adelaide Cottage, where they have lived with their children for the past three years, to the nearby Forest Lodge estate, which is much larger and offers greater privacy.

Not everyone, however, is expected to wish them a smooth move.

On Sunday it was reported that because of the relocation, two families living close to the estate were asked to vacate their homes.

These houses, once royal stables, had been converted into rental residences.

According to reports, the families renting the homes were “surprised” by the demand to leave.

“They were told they had to vacate,” said a source familiar with the situation.

“They did not expect it and received no prior notice.

Their houses are very close to the estate, and the palace did not want ordinary people continuing to live nearby once the royals moved in.”

While the current tenants likely were not pleased with the forced move, insiders clarified that they were provided with alternative accommodations—similar or even better than those they had to leave.

Adelaide Cottage, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, became the family’s residence three years ago after moving from Kensington Palace in London.

Their new home, Forest Lodge, is not new at all but was built in the eighteenth century and is classified as a historic property.

It is expected to remain the family’s residence once William succeeds his father, King Charles, and becomes monarch.

The estate, situated in Great Windsor Park, represents a significant upgrade from the cottage: it includes eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, a ballroom, a swimming pool, a tennis court, Venetian windows, two lakes, extensive gardens, and three adjacent houses for their staff.
