Scottish Conservative MSP Russell Findlay has been notified by Police Scotland of a threat to his life.
The threat, linked to known criminal William Burns, a hitman who attacked Findlay with acid in 2015, was communicated as Findlay campaigns for leadership of his party.
Despite this, Findlay, a former crime journalist and current justice spokesman since 2021, remains resolute in his leadership bid.
Burns is believed to have a parole hearing within a week.
Findlay emphasizes the necessity for transparency in parole and sentencing proceedings.
Police Scotland, while not commenting on specific cases, assures appropriate action and maintains regular security discussions with elected officials.
Findlay remains the sole candidate to replace outgoing leader Douglas Ross, who is stepping down after four years in the role.
