Gisèle Pélicot, a 72-year-old woman from a village in southern France, has testified in a court case against her husband Dominique Pélicot and 50 other men accused of raping her for almost a decade.
Dominique, 71, admitted to drugging Gisèle and inviting men to assault her, filming the acts, and storing thousands of images on his computer.
The abuse came to light in November 2020 after Dominique was caught filming up women's skirts in a supermarket.
Gisèle discovered the extent of her abuse when police found a USB drive labeled 'abuses' with over 20,000 images and videos.
Testifying to ensure 'no woman suffers this,' Gisèle waived her right to anonymity.
The 50 men on trial include local professionals, with many denying knowing the assaults were non-consensual.
The trial, held in Avignon, is expected to last four months, with the accused facing up to 20 years in prison.
