GORY TOURS: Add a bit of blood and guts to the summer holidays with family-friendly gory tours of the Golden Hinde. Find out why the floors of the ship are painted red, and how much cow vomit a galleon can hold. Best not go to this one straight after lunch, eh? The Golden Hinde (Borough), £5, book ahead, 11am/1pm/3pm/5pm

THE PEOPLE'S WAR: Author and lecturer Dr Jonathan Fennell offers a free talk about the history of the British and Commonwealth armies in the second world war. National Army Museum (Chelsea), free, book ahead, 11.30am

PALACE GARDEN: How does a secret garden right next to the Thames sound? The usually-private Lambeth Palace Garden hosts its monthly opening. For a £5 charity donation, you can get inside the Archbishop of Canterbury's walled garden, and wander among ponds, plants and statues. Lambeth Palace, £5, just turn up, 12pm-3pm

LITTLE GAY BROTHER: Queer performance collective Little Gay Brother bring their touring show to Southbank Centre. The free performance uses music, dance and humour to challenge gender perceptions, and ties in with the current Kiss My Genders exhibition. Southbank Centre, free, just turn up, 5.30pm

MUSEUM LATE: It's the last couple of days of the David Adjaye: Making Memory exhibition at Design Museum, and tonight the museum stays open late for a closing celebration. Visit the exhibitions and displays after hours, and take part in special sketching workshops. Design Museum (Kensington), free entry, just turn up, 6pm-8pm

EGYPTIAN LOVER: The king of 80s electro, Egyptian Lover, comes to Hackney, bringing his West Coast, funk-filled tunes with him. Night Tales (Hackney Central), £13.50, book ahead, 6pm-3am

VEGAN MARKET: Head to Greenwich Market for a feast of vegan food. There's a carnival theme to this month's Vegan Vibes market, so tuck into vegan street food, beers, wines and cocktails, accompanied by a steel pan band. Greenwich Market, free entry, book ahead, 6.30pm-10pm

NORMAN JAY: DJ Norman Jay MBE plays a live DJ set on board the Cutty Sark. Enjoy a glass of prosecco on the top deck before dancing the night away to disco, funk and soul tunes. Cutty Sark (Greenwich), £22-£52, book ahead, 7pm

SUNSET RIVERSIDE WANDERING: Join Living London for a walk along the river at sunset. Begin at Greenwich Peninsula, following The Line sculpture trail and looking out for wildlife in the ecology park.
