The RCIPS Continues to Support Youth Development with Bi-annual College Internship Programme

As of Monday 10th August, the RCIPS has commenced the 2020 RCIPS Bi-annual Internship Programme which once again sees several interns being placed based on their academic interests in various operational and support services roles across the RCIPS and Cayman Islands Coastguard.
Placements include the Cyber Crime, Digital Forensic Hub, Media & Communications, Finance, Human Resources and Cayman Islands Coastguard.

Of the seven students who will be working within the service, four of the interns Jonah Somers from the Carleton University in Canada, Marlique Muir from the University of Kent, Chambria Dalhouse from the London College of Creative Media, and Susani Lucas, from the University of Southampton, are returning interns having had an impactful and overall positive 2019 summer Internship experience. Three of the seven students will be joining the police for the first time: Gabriela Roberts from the University of Liverpool, Hayley Webb from the University College of the Cayman Islands and Scott Lewis from the Washington University.

Deserey Burton, RCIPS Assistant Human Resource Manager who is organising the internship process added “It gives me great pleasure to accept these young Caymanians into the service to assist with their development and education. We hope that their internship experience with us will have a lasting and positive impression. The aim is to ensure that the experience gained at RCIPS will equip them so that after they have completed their education, they will consider the RCIPS as an ‘Employer of Choice’ to invest their careers.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Derek Bryne stated “There are immense career opportunities within the service, as such we encourage all young Caymanians to join the Royal Cayman Islands Service. Not only do we encourage them to join the ranks as police officers with a variety of specialist areas to choose from, but we also offer various civilian career opportunities ranging from Human Resources, Finance, Media and Communications, Education, Engineering and Technology. We extend a warm welcome to the seven young men and women who have chosen to carry out their internship with the RCIPS. We wish them a productive and enlightening internship and look forward to the feedback on their experience with us.”
