Macklemore Cancels Dubai Show Over UAE’s Role in Sudan Conflict
US rapper Macklemore has canceled his October concert in Dubai to protest the United Arab Emirates’ involvement in Sudan’s civil war and humanitarian crisis. The UAE has allegedly supplied arms to the Rapid Support Forces, leading to significant casualties and displacement. Macklemore’s decision is rooted in broader geopolitical concerns, including support for Palestine.
US rapper Macklemore has canceled his October concert in Dubai to protest the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) involvement in Sudan’s civil war and humanitarian crisis.
UN experts have reported credible evidence that the UAE supplied arms to Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been in conflict with government troops.
The civil war, which erupted in April 2023, has led to over 18,800 deaths and displaced more than 10 million people.
Various international figures, including Sudan’s government, have accused the UAE of arming the RSF.
Despite Dubai organizers cancelling the show and offering refunds, no official comment was given by the Emirati authorities.
Macklemore’s decision stems from public pressure and aligns with his recent support for Palestine amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
