“There are many persons concerned about the opening of schools, and I have had discussions with the Ministry of Health, and they have informed me that when teachers, parents and other persons in the society become vaccinated when we are protected, from the COVID-19 virus, then we can have discussions about what measures can be relaxed,” he remarked during a live radio broadcast last evening, March 2.

He continued: “I think with the vaccination of our teachers and our parents, the pathway is there for us to get our children back into the school. This has been the argument, if you want things to be normalized, the pathway to the normalization of our society which includes the schools has to do with us getting vaccinated. This is a total societal effort to battle against COVID-19.”

In the meantime, he said he is aware that there are persons who have concerns about the AstraZeneca vaccine, and those concerns will be addressed.

“I have arranged for educational sessions, specifically for the teachers, so that any question that they might have about these vaccine can be answered,” he informed.

Notably, because of the ongoing health pandemic, students in the territory are engaged via a hybrid learning system, incorporating online learning and limited traditional on-campus learning.
