Mr. David Archer, Jr. is acting in the Office of Governor from Friday, 2nd August to Tuesday, 6th August, 2019.

Mr. Archer is acting in the absence of His Excellency the Governor Mr. Augustus J. U Jaspert who is away from the Territory. Mr. Archer’s appointment is in accordance with section 37 (1) (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007 which states, “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”

Mrs. Rosalie Adams, OBE, will act in the Office of Governor from 6th August until 20th August, 2019 Mrs. Adams’ appointment will commence on Tuesday, 2nd August in the absence of His Excellency the Governor Mr. Augustus J. U Jaspert who is away from the Territory. Mr. Archer will also be away from the Territory.

Mrs. Adams’ appointment is in accordance with section 37 (1) (b) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007 which states, “if the office of Deputy Governor is vacant, or the Deputy Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of the office of Governor, such person as Her Majesty may designate by instructions given through a Secretary of State, shall, during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”

Mrs. Petrona Smith-Davies will serve as acting Deputy Governor while Mr. Archer is away from the Territory during the period of 6th August to 20th August, 2019.

Mrs. Smith-Davies in accordance with section 36(2) (b) and (c) of Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 to inform you that Her Majesty has been pleased to signify through the Secretary of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs that you should act in the office of Deputy Governor of the British Virgin Islands, during the period 6th August to 20th August, 2019 while the Deputy Governor, Mr. David Archer, is on leave.
